November 14, 2018

Thellman called the regular meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 with Commissioners Thellman and Derusseau present. Commissioner Gaughan was absent.

PROCLAMATION 11-14-18
Michael Kelly, Chairman of Lawrence Veteran’s Day Parade Association, stated the association raised $10,000 in donations which paid for this year’s parade and left some money for charity work. He reported it was great weather and they received outstanding support from the community. Next year’s parade will be on November 9, 2019.

Derusseau moved approval of a proclamation to declare November 13, 2018 as “Thank you Veteran’s Day.” Motion was seconded by Thellman and carried. 2-0

CONSENT AGENDA 11-14-18
Thellman moved approval of the following Consent Agenda:
►  Commission Order Nos. 18-047, 18-048, 18-049 and 18-050 (on file in the office the County Clerk);
►   2017 Single Audit Report prepared by Berberish Trahan & Co. P.A. conducted in accordance with Uniform Guidance requirements for expenditures regarding the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department. No material weaknesses or significant deficiencies were identified; and
►   Lease Agreement Renewal and Addendum with Hillcrest Wrecker Garage, Inc.

Motion was seconded by Derusseau and carried 2-0.
 
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE 11-14-18
Thellman moved to accounts payable in the amounts of $855.65 paid on 10/30/18; $127,930.86 and $156,220.89 paid on 11/01/18; and $94,030.23 to be paid on 11/15/18. Motion was seconded by Derusseau and carried 2-0.

APPOINTMENTS 11-14-18
Thellman to approve the following reappointments to the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council positions: Shaye Downing to the Criminal Defense Attorney from the Douglas County Bar position; and Charles Epp, KU School of Public Affairs position, both for two-year terms to expire 11/30/20. Motion was seconded by Derusseau and carried 2-0.

MISCELLANEOUS 11-14-18
Thellman wanted to remind the public of County Administrator Craig Weinaug’s retirement reception to be held on December 14, 2018, 3:30 p.m. at the Flory Building, Douglas County Fairgrounds. Everyone is invited.

Thellman moved to adjourn the meeting. Motion was seconded by Derusseau and carried 2-0.
