Thellman called the Special Meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 with Commissioners Thellman, Gaughan and Derusseau present. The purpose of the Special Meeting was to canvass the results of the Primary Election held on August 7, 2018.

 

Thellman moved to accept three hundred sixty two (362) provisional ballots as recommended by the County Clerk, and to not count one hundred forty one (141) ballots as recommended by the County Clerk and the one (1) no recommendation due to arrival after polls closed. Motion was seconded by Gaughan and carried 3-0.

Thellman moved to accept the write-in ballots as recommended by the County Clerk. Motion was seconded by Derusseau and carried 3-0.

 

Thellman moved to recess the Special Meeting to receive the count of the provisional ballots due to a close Republican Primary race for Governor. Motion was seconded by Gaughan and carried 3-0.

 

Thellman moved to reconvene the election canvass to receive provisional ballot results. Motion was seconded by Gaughan and carried 3-0.

 

County Clerk Jamie Shew counted three hundred sixty two (362) provisional ballots which gives a total of 20,675 total ballots in Douglas County. The results of the Republican Primary race are as follows: As of the last count, Jeff Colyer had 4316 votes. The provisional ballots added 66 votes bringing the Colyer total to 4382 votes in Douglas County; Kris Kobach at last count had a total of 2518 votes. The provisional count added 46 votes for final total of 2564 votes. These are the totals that will be reported to the Secretary of State’s Office.

 

Thellman moved to accept the results of the Douglas County August Primary results of 2018. Motion was seconded by Derusseau and carried 3-0.

 

Gaughan moved to adjourn the meeting. Motion was seconded by Thellman and carried 3-0.
